John Locke created the three democratic ideals that we still see present today in the Decleration Of Independence. The first one being natural rights. Natural rights such as life and liberty can not be taken away from the people. The second thing Locke created was the idea of popular soverieghty. This states that all power most come from the people.The final ideal that was created was revolution. If the government ever gets to strong or becomes a threat to natural rights than the people have the right to overthrow it. These ideas were borrowed later by Thomas Payne who then wrote a book called Commom Sense and used it to persuade many colonist.
